Atari 5200 Emulators

Atari800 is a multi-platform Atari 5200 emulator. Atari800 runs on DOS, Windows, WinCE, MacOS X/PPC, BeOS, OS/2, Amiga and basically any system running the SDL library. Atari800 also emulates the Atari 400, 800. 600XL, 800XL and 130XE.

Notes

Atari800 needs 3 roms to work:

- 5200.rom, this rom file can be downloaded here (external download).
- ATARIXL.ROM and ATARIBAS.ROM, this 2 can be found in PC Xformer 2.5 download at the bottom of this page.

Atari800Win Plus is an Atari 5200 emulator based on Atari800 but with a lot of improvements and new features.

Atari800Win Plus needs 4 roms to work:

- ATARIXL.ROM, ATARIBAS.ROM and ATARIOSB.ROM this 3 can be found in PC Xformer 2.5 download at the bottom of this page.

- All the features of Atari800.
- AVI recording with sound.
- Network play using Kaillera.
- Nice Windows GUI.

MESS (Multi Emulator Super System) is an Atari 5200 emulator based on MAME. MESS also emulates the Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Playstation, and many more.

Notes

To emulate the Atari 5200, MESS needs the rom 5200.rom, this rom file can be downloaded here (external download). After download rename it to a5200.zip and place it in the bios folder of the MESS installation.

- Keyboard gives a little trouble so use a joystick or mouse.

Jum A5200 is an Atari 5200 emulator for Windows. Jum A5200 has been ported to Mac, BeOs, QNX and a Playstation 2 version that runs off a memory card using the "PS2 Independance" exploit.

Features:

- Full sound support.
- Joystick support including Microsoft Sidewinder.
- Supports MousePaddle using the computer mouse.
- Save states.

Rainbow is an Atari 5200 emulator for Mac OS X. This is a native port of Rainbow by Chris Lam. Rainbow also emulates the Atari 400, 800, 800XL and 130XE. You will need at least Mac OS X 10.4 PPC or Intel to run Rainbow.

- Supports 4 joysticks (using keypad) and 4 paddles (using mouse).
- Supports NTSC and PAL.

XFormer 2.5 is an Atari 400, 800 and 800XL. XFormer has Atari permission to distribute certain rom files that are required from others Atari 5200 emulators to run, so that's why we have it here.
